Washington D.C. Trip

Attention all students who are going on the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip. All candy sale fundraising money is due to Mr. Nobles by Friday, January 25th. Any money turned in after this date cannot be counted towards the cost of your trip.

This week, the week of Jan. 14-18 has been proclaimed “Black History Awareness Week” at Dake. Each day, a Black History Awareness question will be read over the morning announcements. Students have until 2:15 p.m. each day to submit their answers.

Yesterday’s Question: What was the name of the first American colony to abolish slavery? Answer: Vermont, when their state Constitution was written in 1777, a full 88 years before the U.S. Government abolished slavery. Winner: Averie Baptiste

Today’s Question: “Which black colonist was killed at the Boston Massacre?

Answers may be dropped off in Room 319 by 2:15 p.m.
