What does your Mental Health Team Do?

Counselors: School Counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. In partnership with other educators, families and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure all students in West Irondequoit Central School District have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.

Social Workers: Courtney Hathaway and Jeremy Carrier are School Social Workers at Dake. They are licensed mental health professionals who support; mental health, behavior concerns, academic needs and problem-solving. Our School Social Workers are the link between the home, school, and community providing direct and indirect services to students, families and school personnel. They also support crisis intervention and provide skill-based individual and group counseling. Mrs. Hathaway and Mr. Carrier work to promote and support students' social, emotional and academic growth holistically.  

Psychologist: Celina Cohen, Ph.D., is a certified school psychologist who partners with our families, teachers, school administrators, mental health team, and other professionals to help create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments at Dake. As our school psychologist, Dr. Cohen assesses students' functional capabilities and classroom environments to help develop recommendations. Dr. Cohen also provides crisis intervention as well as ongoing counseling supports to enhance student success at school.

Substance Abuse Prevention Counselor/Youth Intervention Specialist: Lindsay Snyder is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor who works with student individually, in groups, and through classroom lessons to help students build assets that improve students’ emotional, behavioral and cognitive skills guiding them toward a healthy lifestyle and positive school outcomes.
